I did my first craft workshop with Carol Haliday on Sunday in the Harbour Arts Centre making a simple flower hoop. It was a trial for future workshops hopefully in the not too distant future! I really enjoyed it and I liked the change from the painting workshops. Keep your eyes peeled on the workshop page for future dates. Hoping to try out different ideas and venues around Ayrshire maybe in West Kilbride, the lovely Scottish Craft Town!
I’ve not had much time to update the blog this year, I’ve been really busy with my exhibition and other work commitments. In January I started one to one tuition to learn how to etch in the Print Room at Rozelle House in Ayr with Ian McNicol. The tuition and materials were funded by Creative Scotland from the visual artists and makers award (vacma).. it was great to be able to learn how to etch at last and even better to use local facilities set up by Ian in Rozelle House.
The process of learning how to etch has taken my work in all twists and turns and I even managed to produce some etchings for my exhibition Inside Out on show at the harbour Arts Centre in Irvine until June 28th. The simple joy of making the rag dolls was the basis to most of the etching ideas. I made a little concertina book etching which is my favourite! Very pleased to have sold one at the exhibition as well as a few others. I’m aiming to continue with other etching ideas and eagerly awaiting the go ahead to use the printing facilities at Rozelle.
Etchings are all for sale in my exhibition at the harbour Arts Centre.
My exhibition Inside Out is currently on show in the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine until the 28th of June. On show are paintings, drawings new etchings and handmade dolls in the display cabinets. Most of the dolls are my own designs however 4 rabbits are from the well loved and gorgeous ginger melon patterns. Also on sale are some digital giclee prints and cards.
Please contact the Harbour Arts Centre for opening times or if you want any info on the exhibition please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or message me on Facebook, link is at the bottom of the page.
